Lisa is our Business Analyst and valuable addition to the team.

Where did you grow up? Where did you go to school?

I grew up in Dublin, Ireland. I graduated from Trinity College with a BS in management.

What sparked your interest in Science?

In school, biology was my favorite subject. It was fascinating to me and still is. I love learning about living organisms, their origin, anatomy & behavior, etc.

Did you have any specific role models? If so, who were they?

My mother has always been a role model in my life. She grew up in a time/place where women who continued with third-level education were encouraged in two very narrow paths, teaching, and nursing. My mother became an educator, for this reason, she always encouraged me to value education and take opportunities when I can and never take anything for granted.

What would you say to a young person considering a career in science or computers?

Science is one of the most important channels of knowledge and technology helps society learn, think, and communicate. I’d highly encourage any person considering a career in science or technology.

What is important to you personally? I.e.what things do you value most in life?

I value health, family, friends, and a career that is stimulating, challenging, and meaningful.

What are some of the challenges you have faced either in your career or personally that you feel have helped you become the successful person you are?

Overcoming the common challenges of being an immigrant has made me a more successful person. You must learn the new rules and adapt for success in both your personal and professional life. It’s been a wonderful experience; I wouldn’t have it any other way.

What do you enjoy about being part of the Studylog team?

I really enjoy the culture that exists at Studylog, it’s a very encouraging and collaborative environment.  Leadership is very involved, and there is a common vision. The role is stimulating and challenging. We get to work with a variety of clients, it’s always interesting to hear how they use Studylog and how we can make Studylog better for the future.

What do you do for fun?

For fun, I enjoy being outdoors, hiking, walking or in water, etc. California is a beautiful part of the country. We have everything on our doorstep, from beaches, sequoias to mountains with a Mediterranean- like climate.
